ABSTRACT
A shower shortly before the operation, the pre-operative antiseptic cleansing of the vagina, and the strict adherence to antiseptic procedures in general form part of the effort to prevent infection. An antibiotic that acts on Gram-negative and anaerobic germs needs to be applied. However, post-operative antibiotic therapy is not justified, even in the presence of a vesical catheter.
