The engineer or designer who wants to consider operator strength has to make a series of decisions. These include the following.

1. Is the use mostly static or dynamic? If static, information about isometric capabilities, as listed below, is appropriate. If dynamic, other considerations apply in addition to strength data, concerning, for example, physical endurance (circulatory, respiratory, metabolic capabilities) of the operator or prevailing environmental conditions.
