ABSTRACT
Chinese has been regarded as the oldest language, used for more than 3500 years, and currently with more than 1.3 billion users. It is one of the easiest languages to learn because there are no morphological changes in the sentences, and yet it is one of the most difficult in that so many characters which cannot be pronounced directly must be learned. Although Zhong Hua Zi Hai collected 85 568 characters, most of them were used in ancient times. Only a few thousand are used in modem Chinese literature.
