ABSTRACT

Prior to the successes of NASA with mobile robot explorers on the surface of Mars, most people classified robots into one of two categories: large, preprogrammed, fixed, industrial robots and semihumanoid robots in science fiction. In reality, robots are all around residents of most developed countries but are generally perceived by their product class. For example, the robotic technology in a typical modern automobile is far beyond the welding robot that helped fabricate the vehicle.
