Common usage of the term “handgrip” is synonomous with “power grasp” and will be used in this context here. Other synonyms are hand grasp, hand squeeze, and grip. Power grasping may be accomplished in different ways, depending on the size and shape of the object being grasped. Here is a practical classification of the main types of power grasp:
O Spherical grasp: the hand grasps a spherical object in the palm of the hand. The object is large enough to allow contact with the palm and fingers, as in holding a baseball or spherical doorknob.
