Assessment of Symptoms and Quality of Life in the COPD Patient

This chapter is about the quantification of symptoms and health status in chronic

obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), which now are integrated in a group of

measurements termed patient-reported outcomes (PROs). It addresses some conceptual

and methodological issues, describes the importance of the evaluation of symptoms and

health status and approaches to their assessment.
