ABSTRACT

The suprapubic approach to anterior segment or urethrovaginal stabilization is known

as retropubic urethropexy. Retropubic urethropexy (RPU) procedures have a long and

important history in pelvic surgery. They remain an essential contribution to the surgical

armamentarium for the management of female urinary incontinence. This chapter will review

the history, techniques, and pertinent literature of the retropubic urethropexies-open and

laparoscopic.
