ABSTRACT

Major sampling and analytic instruments used to evaluate ambient soil, water, and air matrices are listed in Tables 9.1 and 9.2, respectively. Numerous physical, chemical, and biological parameters are evaluated for the three environmental matrices. Soil and water are commonly evaluated for various inorganic and organic chemical agents and biological organisms. Soil and water also are sampled to evaluate common physical parameters including pH, conductivity, turbidity, and percentage of solids. Air is commonly evaluated for inorganic and organic chemical particulates, gases, and vapors.
