ABSTRACT

Fish aquaculture production and fish recruitment can be largely affected by the quality of eggs since reproductive success depends on the quantity and/or quality of eggs produced during spawning. In recent years, efforts have been made to develop reliable parameters that enable to identify good quality eggs. According to Kjørsvik et al. [1] egg quality can be defined as the egg’s potential to produce viable fry, whereas Bromage et al. [2] defined good quality eggs, for fish farming, as those exhibiting low mortalities at fertilization, eyeing, hatching and first feeding larvae.
