ABSTRACT

Principle A of the APA Ethics Code (American Psychological Association, 2002) urges psychologists, in their professional actions, to safeguard the rights of those with whom they interact professionally. Principle B admonishes psychologists to “establish relationships of trust with those with whom they work” and to “clarify their professional roles and obligations.” Standard 2.01 reminds psychologists to provide services that are within the boundaries of their competence. Standard 3.06 reminds psychologists to refrain from taking on professional roles in which confl icts might impair their eff ectiveness.
