ABSTRACT

Though often ignored (until someone is injured, or worse), safety is as much apart of operating a waterworks as is adjusting the feed rate of a metering pump. Safety is part of every action the operator takes. Everyone connected with a waterworks-the owner, administrators, operators, laborers, the administrative assistants, or plant clerk-has a responsibility for safety. When we speak of safety, we usually refer to the protection of the waterworks employees from disease, injury, or death. Howevel; in the real world of waterworks operations, we must not and cannot forget the safety of the general public, as well-our customers. Last, but definitely not insignificantly, we must operate our waterworks in such a manner so as to protect our environment.
