ABSTRACT

This chapter will briefly present the fundamentals of

various stripping procedures. Then, the instrumentation

requirements, including the selection of the voltammetric

analyzer, working electrode, cell and other variables,

will be discussed. It is recommended that the readers

familiarize themselves with the chapters on conductance,

potentiometry, and, especially, voltammetry. The litera-

ture of stripping analysis is reviewed briefly to help poten-

tial users in understanding and choosing among several

variants of the technique. Review articles (Copeland and

Skogerboe, 1974; Esteban and Casassas, 1994; Florence,

1984; Wang, 1982a, 1990) and books (Brainina and

Neyman, 1993; Vydra et al., 1976; Wang, 1985, 1989)

give a comprehensive outline of modern stripping analy-

sis, embracing new strategies, associated problems, and

numerous applications.
