ABSTRACT

Online library instruction, or instruction in information skills delivered over the Internet, varies in its content, levels of technical complexity and intended audiences. Public libraries and special libraries, academic libraries and school libraries, graduate schools of library and information studies, library organizations, commercial vendors, and individuals all provide library instruction in an electronic environment. Delivering library instruction through the Internet is a new approach for educating learners and researchers using technology. It comes at a time of an increasing desire for librarians to educate themselves and their users and follows a history of librarians applying technology in education.
