ABSTRACT
The Pacific Islands Association of Libraries and Archives (PIALA) is a voluntary association established within the islands of Micronesia in the Western Pacific Ocean. Officially created in 1991, it has grown to be a stable association of librarians and archivists, holding annual conferences on different islands, supporting training opportunities, encouraging awareness and fostering resource sharing among libraries, archives, museums, and related institutions in the Pacific Islands.
