ABSTRACT
Founded in 1948, the International Council on Archives (ICA) is an international body representing the world community of records and archives managers. Its membership includes national archives administrations, professional associations, archival institutions of regional and local authorities, and private organizations, as well as individual archivists. An independent, nongovernmental, not-for-profit organization, the ICA is headquartered in Paris, France. As the leading international nongovernmental organization (NGO) for archives and archivists, ICA continues to work in cooperation with UNESCO and NGOs in related areas to realize shared objectives.
