ABSTRACT
Process Engineering’s Role in the Pharmaceutical Industry Pharmaceuticals are chemicals that interact with living animals or humans to bring about an effect on health. There are various means used to produce the pharmaceutical chemicals and to deliver them to the patient. Production of the pharmaceutical chemicals is either by means of chemical synthesis, extraction from natural material, biological processing, or a combination of these. The primary delivery methods include oral dosage forms (solid and liquid), topicals, inhalants, and injectables.
