ABSTRACT

The modern workplace is found grappling with the challenges of increased generational diversity. In today’s workplace, the five generational cohorts are working side by side. These different age group workers have varied work expectations and value systems which make it difficult for the organizations to manage. This calls for an effective framework of workplace strategies that can be used by the organizations to involve and engage the cohorts at the workplace. In this view, the chapter draws attention towards the increasing need for managing the generational diversity. The chapter begins with the discussion of the evolution of generations and then outlines the work expectations and value systems of the five generational cohorts. The concluding part of the chapter delineates the strategies to engage and involve the cohorts group in their work. The organizations can implement these strategies to manage and handle the challenges associated with the generation cohorts.
