ABSTRACT

NASIG has grown up considerably over the last three years and our annual meetings have reflected this growth. During our 1988 session we addressed the issue of copyright for the first time. This development is an important one because we finally explored a key factor – photocopying – in what has been the chief issue to date – serial pricing. Extensive photocopying has in part contributed to the erosion of journal subscription levels and to higher journal prices. Our discussion ranged from the question of copyright transfer to the Copyright Clearance Center’s (CCC) site licensing of university libraries.
