ABSTRACT

In the days of the ancient Assyrians, a leader named General Naaman once contracted a skin disease. “He has leprosy,” whispered his servants, and kept as far away from him as they possibly could. General Naaman asked his personal physician for advice, but no cure was forthcoming. One day a maidservant mentioned that a prophet named Elisha, who was able to heal such diseases thanks to his divine powers, lived in the land of Judah, and the news was passed on to the general. He was filled with fresh hope, and set out on the road to Judah. One of the prophet’s disciples came to greet them at the door and said, “My master greets you. He says that Naaman must wash himrself seven times in the River Jordan, and his flesh will be restored and he will be cleansed.”.
