ABSTRACT
Catalytic asymmetric Friedel–Crafts reactions of nitroalkenes with various electron-rich aromatic compounds as well as heteroaromatic compounds, such as indoles and pyrroles, reported to date are summarized in this chapter. Various Lewis acidic metal-ligand complexes and Brønsted acidic organocatalysts have efficiently catalyzed Friedel–Crafts alkylations to afford the enantioenriched β-aryl nitroalkanes.
