ABSTRACT

The topic of death and dying in the workplace is one that has tended to be a neglected area over the years. The human resources literature has had relatively little to say about death and dying in the workplace, even though workplace deaths, compassionate responses to bereavement, and related matters can make a huge difference to how smooth or otherwise working life is. Similarly, the literature on death and dying has placed relatively little emphasis on the workplace context or its significance. In this chapter, therefore, we explore some of the key issues relating to death and dying in the workplace.
