ABSTRACT

TV multimedia journalism, for anyone first approaching it, can seem overwhelming. Aspiring reporters in college or early in their careers must figure out how to handle numerous responsibilities on a day-to-day basis. This introduction addresses these issues, using the author as an example. It then surveys the landscape of today’s journalism world, particularly in television news, and makes the case that every up-and-coming reporter should recognize the value and opportunity of working as an MMJ. Awards, key assignments, and career fulfillment await those who both understand and welcome the challenge.
