ABSTRACT
A major theme of this book is eliminating variables. A TV multimedia journalist faces so many responsibilities that require effort, intelligence, and thought. An MMJ worried about other matters will likely perform below their true capabilities. This applies especially to one’s equipment. Most photographers know exactly where to locate every piece of their gear, from the camera and tripod to microphones and cables. They also learn early on how to master that gear. This chapter provides insight for MMJs on setting up a backpack and learning the settings of, and understanding, the camera. It features tips from Greg Bledsoe, MMJ at KNSD-TV in San Diego and former NPPA National Solo Video Journalist of the Year.
