ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 covers laws related to persons, family, matrimonial regimes, and succession. It first summarizes the historical development and incorporation of these issues in Rwandan law from colonialism to the present. The main part of the chapter discusses two key laws: Namely, the law governing persons and family, and the law governing matrimonial regimes, donations, and succession. Key topics covered include legal personality, marriage, legal separation, divorce, adoption, matrimonial regimes, family donations, and succession.
