ABSTRACT

The human-centred mineral resource governance approach is a pathway for Ghana and other mineral wealth sub-Saharan African countries to consider in order to address the challenge of the ‘resource curse’ or the paradox of plenty. As a result, the human-centred mineral resource governance approach attempts to respond to the following research questions: How can Ghana and other mineral wealth sub-Saharan African countries govern their mineral resource sector to promote transparency and accountability? How judiciously can mineral rents be utilised to promote human development in Ghana and other mineral wealth sub-Saharan African countries? In what ways can the mineral sector in Ghana and other mineral wealth sub-Saharan African countries be structured to promote equitable participation by citizens of these countries?

The chapter discusses strategies and policies to addresses these questions.
