ABSTRACT

The poems that follow are based on actual organizational events that happened often to the authors in various workplaces. They are described of course with a tincture of poetic license. Bureaucracies are social structures, and by being human social constructs, our organizations contain unconscious and intersubjective building blocks. Alienation from others, self, one’s work, and the organization are words that explain the underlying essence of the poem. The poem speaks to the success of terrorism around the world. Everyone is afraid. Even those who are familiar can become potential enemies. The poem also speaks to the many aspects of bureaucratic structure and processes that turn people into numbers and human resources to be managed much like machines. People are subject to being transferred, retrained, demoted, disciplined, and even terminated as surplus human resources.
