ABSTRACT

The Zhdanovskoe deposit is owned by Kola MMC, Nornickel’s nickel refining hub and a leading industrial facility in the Murmansk region. The Severny underground mine produces the deposit by using a sublevel caving mining method; however, in some parts the open stoping mining method is applied. Using these two mining methods in the same area can affect geomechanical conditions. Moreover, mining is very intense, and the excavation front goes deeper. These factors can lead to dynamic rock pressure occurrence. Therefore, the study of the rock mass stress state of the Zhdanovskoe deposit is urgent.
