ABSTRACT

Heavy-duty mining dump trucks are widely used during open pit mining of a deposit. The vehicle column operation in the quarry for the transportation of rock from the face to the crushing and screening plant is accompanied by a significant impact on the ecological situation in the region.

The main factors that has a negative impact on the environment due to heavy-duty vehicles operation are emissions of exhaust gases from diesel internal combustion engines, high level of dustiness due to the interaction of wheels with the surface of haul road, as well as particulates that appear because of tire wear.

The authors place special emphasis on main approaches that are aimed to improve the ecological situation in the quarry.
