ABSTRACT

Acquaintance with the principles of state monitoring of water objects in different countries will help to identify the positive aspects and borrow these principles for the best func-tioning of the monitoring systems in these countries.

The systems of state monitoring of water objects in Russia and in Europe are developed enough and are widely used at the moment. The state monitoring of water objects in Russia and in the European Union is very similar by most criteria.

There are several differences between the monitoring systems in question, but these differences don’t allow us to conclude that one system or another is worse. However, it became possible to introduce one of the principles of state monitoring of water objects in Europe into the Russian monitoring system.
