ABSTRACT
There are two kinds of identification: in-person (lineups and showups) and photographic. Officers must not influence identifications in any way and must allow the presence of an attorney to observe the proceeding. A suspect cannot refuse to participate. Photo ID sessions may be conducted in the absence of a lawyer, but nothing can be done to influence an ID.
