ABSTRACT
Queen Victoria (1819–1901) was a voluminous letter-writer and diarist. This letter is taken from a selection of those to her eldest daughter who married the German Crown Prince and became the mother of Kaiser Wilhelm. The Crown Princess was married at 17 in January 1858 and her fìrst baby was born in January 1859 when Queen Victoria herself was only 39. These letters were written in 1859 and 1860.
