ABSTRACT

The multi-disciplinary approach adopted by educational neuroscience provides a helpful balance of evidence confirming the value of some existing strategies and techniques as well as offering potential insights for improving other areas of practice. The Pupil Premium initiative recognised the gap in educational achievement between students from different backgrounds, in particular their socio-economic status. One of the challenges facing us as teachers when we try to engage with research in general is our understanding of how the findings of specific studies relate to the findings of other studies. Reduction in mental health and wellbeing results from many factors that lead to changes in the behaviour of children and young people. One of the major shortcomings in tackling the problems affecting learning has been the tendency to separate the cognitive and non-cognitive matters. Language development and disorders has been subject to a massive level of extremely detailed research.
