ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book examines the late French reception of Ludwig Wittgenstein and the engagement with Ludwig Wittgenstein’s work in French philosophy. It mentions Jean-Francois Lyotard’s uptake of Wittgenstein and the interpretative possibilities of yoking together Ludwig Wittgenstein and Foucault as the production of a dialogue across different traditions. The book emphasizes styles of thinking and reasoning that are revealed in the work of Friedrich Nietzsche, Martin Heidegger and Ludwig Wittgenstein, and by the extension and development of their work in Critical Theory and French poststructuralist philosophy.
