Doctrines of Intelligent Search
One of the central concepts of logical creative thinking (LCT) is to redefine invention/innovation as search. This chapter discusses how to conduct intelligent search by using the four doctrines: intelligent search can involve closed or open exploration, intelligent search is logical, intelligent search is efficient and comprehensive, and intelligent search has a demanding stopping rule. The core scientific principles underlying several natural science disciplines have informed the development of LCT. Mathematics and physics provide the foundational thinking behind the notion that innovation is a search problem. More specifically, LCT draws from chemistry, biology, and mathematics to develop innovation methods. Mathematics also provides specific principles that have guided the development of LCT. Regardless of the application, the final output of LCT search should be novel, non-obvious, and valuable.
