ABSTRACT

The Times of India says:—“By no class of the Army does Lord Napier of Magdala deserve to be more gratefully remembered than by the women and children. His constant endeavour from the time that he assumed command of the Bombay Army till his connection with it closed, was to promote the comfort and happiness of all connected with it—beginning with the women and children. And the best results attended his lordship’s endeavours, as may be seen from the medical officer’s reports for the last four years. We give below the rate per thousand of admission into hospital from disease, and of death among the women and children during the years 1865, 1866, 1867, and 1868:— https://www.niso.org/standards/z39-96/ns/oasis-exchange/table"> women.   Admissions per 1000 of strength.
