ABSTRACT

This introduction sets forth the book’s aim: to provide educators with a systematic and practical guide for designing new and redesigning existing educational environments—how to think and do education. The proposed method consists of six steps whereby designers of any institution (kindergarten, K-12, college, etc.) begin by choosing their educational aim and narrative (Steps 1, 2 and 3), extracting from them the specific content of the six principal educational means—curriculum, pattern of teaching, method of assessment, school organizational structure, educational climate, and physical conditions (Step 4), and monitoring their plan before and following the implementation (Steps 5 and 6).
