ABSTRACT

Serving as an MPA director can be a rewarding experience, but the learning process for MPA directors is often a trial by fire. Effective directors not only need to plan course schedules and address student questions, but must also meet the challenges of higher-education administration head on. Previous chapters of this book established and fulfill the road map to the effective program administrator; however, this chapter moves that discussion forward by connecting the reader to the resources available for new directors. Included are resources that are both field-specific, such as the Journal of Public Affairs Education, and more general to the university setting, such as Higher Education. The chapter concludes by connecting the new directors to the community of those with past experience.
