ABSTRACT
To a great extent biometrics is now biopolitics ground zero, a scientific and technological processes of identity and identification that might seem the apotheosis of governmentality and social control. This chapter is concerned to reveal the ways in which the biometrical is entangled with forms of neoliberal rationality. It is also at pains to examine a certain struggle over the terms of measure and measurelessness that help to define what is at stake in the saturation of the biopolitical. Thus, this analysis not only details questions of security, sovereignty and selfhood in biometrics, but what the philosophical attention to measure might mean in subverting the matrix of measure itself. In this sense, to keep bios alive is also to maintain the transformational possibilities of what seems to defy measure in everyday life.
