ABSTRACT
This chapter concerns the Foucault-Derrida interaction over the terms of biopolitics. It offers a trenchant reading of their exchanges that, while something of an event in the history of modern thought, lays claim to a vital exploration of the status of history itself under the sign of biopolitics and biopower. It identifies a provocative tension in the otherwise arch trading over historicism and textualism around which these thinkers engage. The point of this investigation is to forward a critical vigilance within philosophy that better comprehends its intimacy with the sociopolitical that is its possibility, historically and textually.
