ABSTRACT

Most countries have a government agency whose function is to convince foreign enterprises to invest in its country. These agencies provide all kinds of support to companies in terms of information, administrative services, identifying suitable locations, and finding local business partners. Operating in the changing business environment in Bulgaria, the company has lived with all the difficulties of the transition period. The European business environment is highly diverse and there are significant disparities between the various Member States and regions in terms of macroeconomic factors, taxes and technological and scientific knowhow. European integration has resulted in numerous opportunities for enterprises in international trade and investment. For non-European enterprises, European integration can have advantages as well: they can set up production facilities in places with specific advantages within the European Union (EU) and serve the EU market from there. The unveiling of Eisai’s European Knowledge Centre, based in Hatfield, Hertfordshire, was welcomed by author and Alzheimer’s disease sufferer Sir Terry Pratchett.
