Everyone deals differently with conflicts or opposing interests. After all, conflicts arise if one person wants something and the other wants something else and neither will concede. The result of the score indicates which Conflict Handling style the person who filled it in follows as a basic style. The model can be less well interpreted if a conflict arises between people from different cultures. On the basis of their cultural background, people can react differently than in the Conflict Handling styles in the model. People have to state whether they come from an individualistic culture or a collectivist culture. These people also receive different instructions. Furthermore, the interpretation is more comprehensive and there are handy tips for each profile. The result of the score indicates which Conflict Handling style the person who filled it in follows as a basic style. Deviation from the basic style is possible, but only in controlled situations.
