ABSTRACT

Labour force participation and having sufficient and correct qualifications is not only of great importance for workers and employers, but also for society. Schooling, training and increased employability are instruments for the optimal deployment and the defences of individuals on the labour market. Employability should be understood as ‘broad and sustainable availability’. Although schooling is an important component of employability policy, matters such as the stimulation of flexible availability, function changes, mobility, informal learning and recognition of competences acquired elsewhere are likewise components of employability. With the aid of the Employability Scan, the personnel of an enterprise can be more broadly and productively deployed so that greater flexibility is created in the use of the personnel. A risk in the use of the Employability Scan is that the enterprise will see this scan exclusively as a productivity-increasing device to improve the results of the enterprise.
