ABSTRACT

The Gantt Chart is the very insightful graphic representation of the activities that have to be carried out in a plan. The Gantt Chart consists in two parts. The first part is text and figures and the second part is graphics. The Gantt Chart gives a graphical overview of the activities in a project and provides direct insight into the status of a project in relation to the throughput time, dependencies and progress. The Gantt Chart is supported by project planning software and complex calculations and the dependencies are put together to make ‘what-if’ analyses. The Gantt Chart does not indicate the actual efforts put into an activity and is therefore not effective when calculating for changes in the planning. Planning software is a godsend for this.
