ABSTRACT

The collection of information from the market has been done for a long time. It is becoming more difficult, however, to collect exactly those data that will produce more growth and profit than the competition in time. The translation of the data into information, knowledge, intelligence, a strategy and actions for the enterprise is consequently becoming increasingly important. Organisational intelligence translates the knowledge found into intelligence for the enterprise such that it can determine impacts on strategy and can thereby take the right decisions and plan actions. By making use of the Intelligence Pyramid, the enterprise can change from an enterprise that approaches the market reactively to one that approaches the market pro-actively. An enterprise that approaches the market pro-actively is able to have an action plan ready as soon as market changes become apparent. The enterprise is able to anticipate the developments in the market earlier than the competition.
