ABSTRACT

The Central Computer and Telecommunications Agency has developed a set with which a grip can be obtained on the development and management of computerised information systems. When it was first started, ITIL comprised five parts for the development and management of IT. Later, the Office of Government Commerce in England took over the management and development of ITIL. In 2007, a new version was released in which the sets have been replaced by services, where the provision of service is the starting point. The structure of ITIL V3 consists in a number of service components that are based on the life cycle of service provision. The core consists in the development of a strategy. Thereafter follows the implementation, which has three components: service design, service transition and service production. Implementation ultimately leads to a continuous improvement process: service improvement.
