ABSTRACT

Saunders Year developed 2003 Also known as 'Onion research process' Objective Choosing the correct research method Everywhere around us, research is being done. The research philosophy relates to the interpretation of data and the situations in which the research takes place. The deductive method assumes a theory and a hypothesis, within which a research strategy is designed to establish the hypothesis. The inductive method emphasises understanding the meaning that people ascribe to events, to gain a proper understanding of the context of the research and the collection of high-quality data. The research strategy goes into the manner in which the research will be tackled. The research objective indicates to what type of questions answers must be given. The onion model gives a greater guarantee of the fact that the results of the research can only be interpreted in one way.
