ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a number of practical tips for preparing for an interview, conducting it and writing up a report afterwards. The project members are often likely to need information from others while they are carrying out research during the course of the project. Interviews range in type from having a predetermined format to the open interview. After the interview, the notes have to be made into an interview report. If the interview report is required for a project, it is best to use the third manner of reporting. Incorporate any comments in the final report and, if appropriate, also send a final copy to the interviewee. During an open interview the interviewer will not stick to a set questionnaire or a certain question sequence.
