ABSTRACT

An executive summary should give a retrospective account of a finished part of the project, including an account of the results and conclusions. An executive summary should also be oriented towards the future, giving recommendations and stating points that require an executive decision. Bear the reader in mind when students are writing an executive summary. The executive summary should contain enough information to allow management to make responsible and valid decisions. The executive summary is a preliminary decision-making document. It is, in fact, a list of points on the basis of which the executive meeting determines what action has to be taken. The organization’s management team will have to make decisions based on the results they have been shown. It is one of the tasks of the project team to make it clear in the executive summary what decisions have to be made.
