ABSTRACT

The Rooms Department Manager or Director is responsible for the daily operations of the Rooms Department of the hotel and reports directly to the hotel property’s General Manager. In several hotels, reservations is an activity branch that belongs to the Rooms Department, and since the guest’s journey most likely begins at the booking stage, the Reservation Department is discussed first. From a guest’s perspective, the most important outcome of a reservation process is a hotel having a room available and ready when the guest arrives. The Front Desk manages room inventory, assigns rooms to newly arrived guests according to their personal preferences, and manages the check-in processes. A major benefit of technology is the support it can provide to Rooms Department Managers in making their strategic and operational decisions. The Floor Supervisor is responsible for controlling and maintaining quality standards on guest floors. The Floor Supervisor allocates rooms to be cleaned to scheduled Room Attendants.
