ABSTRACT

The general manager was dissatisfied, and during several eventful coaching sessions between the general manager and the sales manager they clashed severely and Carina threatened to leave. Coaching therefore complements the performance appraisals or exceeds the performance review. Training supports specific areas expanding knowledge, learning new skills or enhancing the skills. The consultancy Sustainable Service was founded in 2001 by Nick and John, two men with enormous ambition and an inspiring mission in sustainability. The firm had experienced some stormy growth until it hit heavy weather in 2008 and had to lay off some salespeople. Sales is a special working area due to the combination of technical know–how and social and conceptual skills in relationships with customers based especially on an emotional process. Feedback is the oil of the coaching engine, not the fuel. Good feedback ensures the proper conditions for the atmosphere and lubrication to continue.
